The Kenya 2017 Election Campaign Research Portal

I have partnered with Jeremy Horowitz at Dartmouth College and the Kenya Human Rights Commission to develop a resource for scholars interested in election campaigns and political communication in Kenya specifically and Sub-Saharan Africa more generally. Support for this project is provided by the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity, Germany.

On the project's website (get in touch for login and password), you will find data on campaign rallies by the two leading competing alliances (Jubilee and NASA), reports by local monitors on campaign-related activities provided by the Kenya Human Rights Commission, official campaign communication by the main parties, and media coverage and commentary. The website will be updated constantly to include rally transcription and translation.
